Nagpur: The Maharashtra Railway police have arrested all eight accused involved in a rape case of a 20-yearold woman on board the Lucknow-Mumbai Pushpak express train, according to an official.
The incident took place on Friday night when the 20-year-old had boarded the Mumbai bound train at Igatpuri station and the crime was reportedly committed while the train was passing through the ghat section, as per Mumbai GRP’s Police Commissioner Quaiser Khalid. The police had then arrested four people accused in this incident, the police claim all the right have now been arrested.
Khalid took to twitter and said, “The accused boarded Lucknow-Mumbai Pushpak Express at Igatpuri (Aurangabad Railway district) in sleeper bogie D-2 and started committing the crime through the Ghat area during the night.”
The accused have been identified as 20-year-old Prakash, Arshad Sheikh (19), Arjun (20), Kishor Nandu Sonawane (25), Kashinath Ramchandra (23), Akash Shenore (20), Dhananjay Bhagat (19) and Rahul Aadole (22). As per the government railway police official, the accused had also consumed marijuana before entering the train.
Khalid also said that the victim is 20-years-old and has been taken for a medical examination by our lady officer. He added that the victim is fine and is collecting all evidence. The accused had stolen property worth Rs 96,390, mostly mobile phones, from the train passengers. Further investigation is on, Khalid said.
