Nagpur: The Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) has blamed ten colleges in the district for allegedly not paying salaries to their professors and staff during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The university claims that eight engineering colleges, one management, and one other college have failed to pay salaries to their teaching staff.
A fact-finding committee has been appointed by the RTMNU to look into the issue of the pending salaries of the staff and give an ultimatum within a week.
The committee consists of Urmila Dabir, Vishnu Changde, Nitin Kongre, deputy secretary Raman Madne.
Committee member and Senate and management council member of RTMNU Vishnu Changde told The Free Media that the committee visited close to about 10 colleges and learnt that the management had money but didn’t wish to pay the teachers.
“They even slashed the fees of the teaching staff hoping they would resign during the pandemic.”
“In Bapurao Deshmukh College of Engineering, the salary of teaching staff hasn’t been paid in the last 36 months.
A letter has now been sent to the colleges to release the teaching staff’s salaries as soon as possible,” Changde added.
