Mumbai still the safest city to live in: Sena after Mumbai and Ulhasnagar rape incidents

Nagpur: The Shiv Sena on Monday said that the brutal rape and murder of 34-year-old woman has shocked everyone but Mumbai is still the ‘safest city’ in the world for women.

In Sena’s mouthpiece Saamna, the party wrote that the crime against women in the state were a ‘blot’ on the states culture and the anger of people for this is justified.

The 34-year-old woman was brutally raped with a rod by a man inside a tempo in the suburban Sakinaka in the wee hours of Friday.

“The rape and murder of the woman in Sakinaka has shocked one and all.

But, Mumbai is the safest city in the world for women and there should be no doubt about it in anyone’s mind,” Saamna, the Marathi publication wrote.

The publication further added that incidents like the rape and murder of the woman in Sakinaka area were a result of “horrible pervertedness” and can be seen in any part of the world.

Saamna claimed that the comparison of this incident with the Hathras rape case was completely wrong and unjustifiable.

She succumbed to her injuries during her treatment at in the hospital on Saturday.

The crime had a strange similarity with that of Nirbhaya rape case in 2012.
