‘Women4climate’ flagged off by Jr Thackeray, aims to have 1900 EV buses by 2023

Nagpur: The Maharashtra government has commenced a programme called ‘Women4Climate’ which aims to bring women in the Mumbai city together to tackle climate change.

Tourism and Environment minister Aaditya Thackeray on Monday along with Brihinmumbai municipal corporation and C40 cities network flagged off the initiative.

In this unique programme, the state government in collaboration with the C40 Cities network aims to bring out the leadership qualities in women so that a stage can be set for the next generation of climate leaders. Through this, women will get a chance to develop, implement actions which would accelerate climate projects. The state government also aims that the women will be able to develop strategies to achieve the overall target of sustainable development goals.

Junior Thackeray also took to twitter and said that under the campaign they are trying to set up an urban forest in Mumbai which will help reduce the impact of climate change.

The cabinet minister aimed that by 2023, there will be 1900 EV busses in the city, 50 per cent with 200 double decker and 100 per cent e-buses by 2028. Currently, there are 386 EV buses running in the city.
