Nagpur: Restaurants and bars in Maharashtra now stay open till midnight and other establishments can stay open up to 11pm with immediate effect as per chief minister Uddhav Thackeray.

Earlier, both were allowed to operate till 10pm across the state. The government added that it was essential for restaurant staff to be fully vaccinated and urged the citizens to get vaccinated. However, the local body authorities have been allowed to cut down on timings if needed. The government said that no further extension of time can be made without special permission.

Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray’s office took to Twitter to share the guidelines.

Thackeray directed the administration on Monday to issue guidelines regarding extending the business hours for restaurants, bars and shops in the state. Thackeray said that the guidelines for the same will be put soon.

Thackeray also said that amusement parks, theatres and auditoriums can reopen from October 22, however, water activities in the amusement parks will not be allowed. At present, the timings of shops and restaurants are restricted till 10pm only. The hospitality industry had urged the chief minister to extend the timings of restaurants and bars as the Covid-19 positivity rate has come down.

Mumbai island city guardian minister Aslam Sheikh said that the timings in the city will be restored to pre-covid times i.e 1:30am by the end of the week.
