Maharashtra on Friday reported seven new cases of the Omicron variant, of which one tested positive was a three-year-old kid. Three of them are from Mumbai and rest of the cases were reported from Pimpri Chinchwad, Pune. All those tested positive on Friday have a travel history from Tanzania, United Kingdom and South Africa. Three patients in Mumbai are all males aged 48,25 and 37.

Another case has been detected in the national capital with travel history. Out of the seven detected in Maharashtra, four have been fully vaccinated and out of the three, one has received just one dose of vaccination, another hasn’t been vaccinated and one isn’t eligible for the vaccine.

The first patient who tested positive for the Omicron variant in Maharashtra was discharged on Thursday after testing negative. The doctors have said that the treatment is working well on the Omicron patients and there isn’t a need to worry. Experts from the World Health Organization (WHO) have claimed that the Omicron variant is almost four times more transmissible than the Delta variant but is not deadlier than the Delta variant.
