Nagpur: The Maharashtra health department on Thursday said that there is no consideration of lockdown as of now.
The state health department also added that the government will consider a lockdown or a lockdown like situation only when there is consumption of oxygen over 800 metric ton or 40 per cent of the Covid-19 beds are occupied in the hospitals. As per experts, there are hardly any beds occupied in the state as the most of the cases being reported are either asymptomatic or have mild symptoms.

The health department also stated that the current surge Covid-19 cases might peak in mid-February and die down by March end.
Maharashtra on Wednesday recorded over 20,000 daily Covid-19 cases, of which over 15,000 cases were recorded only from Mumbai.
Higher Education minister Uday Samant in the wake of rising Covid-19 cases in the state said colleges will now shift back to online teaching and announced closure of colleges till February 15. Ending speculations of lockdown in Nagpur district, Guardian minister Nitin Raut on Tuesday announced closure of schools for classes one to eight till January 31. However, no restrictions were imposed on the timings of the restaurants, hotels and bars.
