Nagpur: Security was beefed up around the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) headquarters in Nagpur on Friday evening after operatives of Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) allegedly conducted a recce of sensitive establishments, as per Commissioner of Police, Amitesh Kumar.

Nagpur city police have also banned flying drones or taking photographs near the RSS headquarters. Kumar while taking the stock of the situation said the RSS headquarters and Smruti Bhavan in Reshimbagh are being constantly provided with ‘full-fledged’ round the clock security in and around the area. Vehicular movement too, is being monitored by the police deployed.

A criminal offence under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) has been registered by the police. However, due to sensitivity of the matter, Kumar said the locations of the recce would not be disclosed as of now and full information regarding the activity would be shared at an appropriate time. “No arrest has been made till now related to this case,” Kumar further added. He also mentioned that the police force was ready and capable to combat and neutralise any terrorist attack.

According to officials, the JeM terrorists had come to Nagpur from Srinagar about a month ago and have been staying in the city for a few months.
