Nagpur: Violence seems to be like a never-ending affair in Karnataka. In the latest, a 26-year-old Bajrang Dal activist was stabbed to death in Shivamogga as per police on Monday.
The deceased, identified as Harsha, was stabbed to death by unknown miscreants on Sunday night. According to various reports, a gang of men came in a car and stabbed the 26-year-old. The reason behind the murder is not immediately known. State home minister Araga Jnanendra said that the probe so far has not revealed any link between the murder and the hijab row.
Harsha had allegedly put up a post abusing another religion and a complaint has been lodged at Doddapet police station.
After the attack, several vehicles in the area were set on fire and section 144 was imposed in the district. The administration-imposed curbs on public gatherings and ordered closure of schools and colleges. While addressing the media, he said, “Hijab issue has nothing to do with this incident. It has happened for different reasons. Shivamogga is a sensitive city.”
Karnataka’s rural development minister KS Eshwarappa accused state Congress chief DK Shivakumar of instigating the killing with the kind of comments he made during hijab row protests.
