No need to panic, situation under control: Tope on rise in Covid-19 cases

Nagpur: a day after the union health ministry wrote to various states including Maharashtra regarding an uptick in the Covid-19 cases, state health minister Rajesh Tope on Wednesday said that the situation is under control.

Tope in a statement said that the state Covid-19 situation is under control and there is no need to panic. The Centre on Tuesday advised Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Maharashtra and Mizoram to maintain a strict watch and take pre-emptive action if required in the areas of concern.

Tope said that they will ‘make the right decision at the right time.’ He added that even though wearing face masks is not mandatory, senior citizens and persons with comorbidities must cover their faces when they venture outside as a precaution.

The health minister also said that in the state recorded over 60,000 cases during the peak of third wave so the numbers of are not alarming as of now. In the end, he added that the state is focusing on vaccination of 18 years and below age groups and holding camps in schools and colleges.

Maharashtra on Wednesday recorded 162 fresh cases of Covid-19 in the state with 98 cases from Mumbai.
