Nagpur: SpiceJet announced on Monday that 11 passengers on its flight from Mumbai to Durgapur, West Bengal, were severely injured in turbulence a day earlier, and that many terrifying images from inside the SpiceJet aircraft have emerged.
Some clips and moments of panic were videotaped, and there were many scattered objects and belongings on the plane’s floor. According to the aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), some of them suffered head injuries and required stitches, and one even claimed to have suffered a spinal injury.
“Eleven passengers travelling on SpiceJet flight SG0-945 from Mumbai-Durgapur on May 1 encountered severe turbulence during descent, which unfortunately resulted in injuries to a few passengers,” said a SpiceJet spokesperson in a statement. So far, eight of those who were hospitalised have been discharged. SpiceJet is assisting the injured in any way it can.”
“The seat belt sign was on when the aircraft encountered turbulence,” he continued. The pilots and crew made numerous announcements instructing passengers to remain seated and fasten their seat belts.”
He stated that while the severe turbulence injured a few passengers, “timely medical assistance was provided upon arrival.”
