Nagpur: Uber, the app-based taxi service, announced a number of policy changes aimed at improving the experience for both drivers and riders.

With numerous customer complaints, the company attempted to change these policies, resulting in fewer instances of drivers cancelling rides.

“We understand the feeling you get when the driver calls and asks the dreaded question: ‘Jana Kahan hai’ and then cancels the trip,” wrote Nitish Bhushan, Head of Central Operations for Uber India and South Asia.

He went on to say, “To alleviate frustration for both riders and drivers, we are now showing trip destinations to drivers before they accept the ride.” The front-page destination feature is already available in 20 cities and will be expanded to all others.” “Drivers will be able to see the earnings for long pick-ups, which will be displayed separately on the fare receipt.” When there are few drivers and high demand, this will help ensure that you can get a ride when you need one.”

Before accepting rides, Uber drivers to have access to:

Destinations for travel

Payment method

Will the information be available to all drivers?

Well no! Because the mode of payment will be visible to all drivers, only those who meet a “predefined trip acceptance threshold” will be eligible for destination information.

Will the fare for the ride go up?

Yes, perhaps! Uber has created additional earnings for drivers who must travel long distances. The surcharge will be added to your bill.

Was the policy change necessary?

One side of the story: Drivers expressed their concerns about low earnings due to increased fuel prices, long distances, and other factors.
Another side of the story: Riders also complained about drivers cancelling trips or refusing to turn on the air conditioning.

The Central Consumer Protection Authority received all of these complaints (CCPA). According to PTI, the regulator also issued notices to cab aggregators Ola and Uber for unfair trade practises and violations of consumer rights.
