Nagpur: Maharashtra political drama shifts to Guwahati, Assam after the Shinde camp shifts its base from Surat.
Rebel Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde arrived at Guwahati early this morning and claimed that he had support of a total 46 MLAs—40 from Shiv Sena and six from independent candidates. As per various sources, two more MLAs are set to fly to Guwahati to join the Shinde-headed rebel camp.
Shinde on Tuesday said that he has no plans to switch parties and is not willing to break away from Shiv Sena. He added that he will continue to carry Balasaheb Thackeray’s Hindutva ideology.
The Shiv Sena leader said that the party should leave the Congress-NCP coalition and join hands with the BJP. As per reports, MLAs were airlifted to Assam by the BJP to avoid any further confrontation with the Sena leaders.
Reports also suggest that two MLAs of the Congress party are also ‘unreachable.’
As the crisis intensified in Maharashtra, Shinde was sacked as party’s chief whip on Tuesday afternoon. Before making the change in his Twitter bio, Mr Shinde had tweeted that he is a “Balasaheb Thackeray’s Shiv Sainik” and would never cheat for power.
“Balasaheb has taught us Hindutva. We have never and will never cheat for power regarding Balasaheb’s thoughts and Dharmaveer Anand Dighe Saheb’s teachings,” he said in the tweet.
