Nagpur: After celebrating the major festivals under the shadow of Covid-19, Maharashtra chief minister Eknath Shinde on Thursday announced that there will be no restrictions on Ganeshotsav this year.

Along with Ganeshotsav, there will be no restrictions on Dahi Handi, and processions of Muharrum will also be allowed. Shinde and deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis had a review meeting on law and order ahead of the festive season.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021, the height of Lord Ganesha was capped at four feet. However, the Shinde-Fadvnavis government said that there will be no height restrictions on the idols this year, causing relief to the murti makers in the state.

Another directive by the Shinde-Fadnavis administration to the officials was that all the potholes across the state should be filled up before the Ganesh festival, which is scheduled at the end of August this year.

The Maha Vikas Aghadi government led by Uddhav Thackeray had imposed several restrictions on the festivals.
