Nagpur: The Shiv Sena on Friday criticised the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) over the Income Tax department’s action against Bollywood actor Sonu Sood.
Sena claimed that BJP once praised the work done by the actor during the lockdown and now considers him as a ‘tax evader.’
In Sena’s mouth piece, Saamna, the party said that the action taken against the actor was a foul play which would ‘boomerang the BJP.’
It further said that the BJP claimed the actor to be a tax evader after the Delhi and Punjab government joined hands with him in his social work.
“BJP claims to have the highest number of members in the world and should also have a large heart,” Sena said in its mouthpiece.
Since the past three days tax officials have been conducting raids at Sood’s premises over an alleged land deal.
Raids were conducted at six different locations which are considered to be Sood’s offices.
The 48-year-old actor helped the migrants reach their home when a nationwide lockdown was imposed during the first lockdown.
Sood arranged trains, busses and even flights so that the migrant workers could reach their families.
In the second wave of Covid-19, the actor helped in arranging oxygen cylinders and ventilators for people who needed it across the country.
He recently has been elected as the ambassador of ‘Desh ke Mentor’ programme which has been announced by the Arvind Kejriwal-AAP government in Delhi.
