“Complete control” of security forces on terrorism: MHA report on J-K

Union Home Ministry Amit Shah

Security agencies’ efforts have resulted in a reduction in terror incidents in Jammu and Kashmir over the last few years, and under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the security forces have complete control over terrorism, according to a year-end review released by the Union Home Ministry.

In Jammu and Kashmir, 42,000 people were killed by terrorism, and no one in Delhi raised an eyebrow, but now, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the security forces have complete control over terrorism, according to a review released on Tuesday, quoting Home Minister Amit Shah.”There has been a 54% reduction in terrorist incidents, an 84% reduction in security force deaths, and a 22% reduction in terrorist recruitment,” Shah said. The report stated that Shah appreciated the efforts of security agencies that have resulted in a reduction in terror incidents in Jammu and Kashmir over the last few years, citing Shah’s statement from a February 2022 review meeting on the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir.”The number of terror incidents has decreased from 417 in 2018 to 229 in 2021, while the number of security personnel martyred has decreased from 91 in 2018 to 42 in 2021,” according to the MHA document.Shah, on the other hand, directed that the security grid be strengthened further to ensure zero cross-border infiltration and the abolition of terrorism.

The MHA stated that there is “complete control” of the security forces on terrorism now in Jammu and Kashmir, which has turned into a “tourist hotspot from terrorist hotspot” in a summary of year-end review of 2022 with a compilation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s suggestions and speeches in several meetings taken on Jammu and Kashmir. The MHA report cited the Home Minister’s speech in Srinagar on October 5, 2022, when he inaugurated and laid the groundwork for 240 development projects in the region worth Rs 2,000 crore. The MHA report quotes Shah as saying, “Under the rule of three families for 70 years, only Rs. 15,000 crore investment came into Jammu and Kashmir, and Shri Modi has brought investment of Rs. 56,000 crore in only three years.”

“Previously, it was a terrorist hotspot; now, it is a tourist hotspot; in Kashmir Valley, maximum 6 lakh tourists used to visit every year; this year, 22 lakh tourists have visited; this has provided employment to thousands of youth.” In the meeting, Shah stated that there are no incidents of stone pelting in Jammu and Kashmir because the government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is moving forward with firmness on the path of development. According to Shah, about 63 projects have been built in Jammu under the Prime Minister’s Development Package at a cost of Rs 80,000 crore, and work on the Kiru project at a cost of Rs 4,287 crore is currently underway in Hydro Power Electricity.

The MHA report mentioned a review meeting chaired by the Home Minister here in the national capital on the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, and said the Minister appreciated the efforts of security agencies that have resulted in a reduction in terror incidents in Jammu and Kashmir in recent years. He stated that the number of terror incidents has decreased from 417 in 2018 to 229 in 2021, while the number of security forces personnel martyred has decreased from 91 in 2018 to 42 in 2021. The Union Home Minister directed that the security grid be strengthened further to ensure zero cross-border infiltration and the abolition of terrorism.

Previously, the explanation of ‘jamhooriyat’ (democracy) in Kashmir was only three families, 87 MLAs, and six MPs, but now 30,000 people have been linked to the jamhooriyat “by taking democracy to the village panches, sarpanches, BDC members, and Zilla Panchayats,” according to a ministry document.”Earlier due to Article 370, Gurjar-Bakarwal and Paharis could not get the benefit of reservation in education, elections and jobs, but now after the removal of Article 370, they will all get reservation. “Under the rule of three families for 70 years, only Rs. 15,000 crore investment came into Jammu and Kashmir, and Shri Modi has brought investment of Rs. 56,000 crore in just three years,” Shah was quoted as saying in the document.

The Home Minister had also directed security forces and police to conduct proactive counter-terrorism operations in order to realise Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a prosperous and peaceful Jammu and Kashmir.Shah praised the efforts of security agencies and the administration of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir in keeping the streets peaceful and significantly restoring the Rule of Law. Union Home Minister directed that the security grid be strengthened further to ensure there is no fear of terrorists or separatists. Shah stated that the terror eco-system, which includes elements that aid, abet, and sustain terrorist-separatist campaigns to the detriment of the common man’s well-being, must be completely dismantled.
