Covid-19 spread due to Congress: Modi’s launches scathing attacks

Nagpur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday took a jibe at the Congress saying that the party let coronavirus spread in the first wave and caused havoc by provoking migrants to break the Covid-19 protocols imposed by the central government.

During his speech in the parliament, Modi said, “Iss Corona kaal me me Congress ne toh hadd kar di [Congress crossed all limits during the Corona pandemic.” He added that in the first wave when people were asked to stay where they were, Congress provoked the migrants to break the protocols and leave Mumbai. “Congress even provided tickets for the migrants to go to Uttar Pradesh and Bihar,” the prime minister said.

In another attack, Modi said that several states in India have rejected the grand old party for decades. He said, “Despite facing so many electoral losses, you (Congress) have not lost your arrogance. Your deeds and demeanour will ensure you don’t return to power for 100 years.”

Modi also said that the Congress party mocked the ‘Make in India’ but the youth of the country made it possible. “You have become a joke. Some people have a problem with Make in India, because for them it means there will be no corruption and they won’t be able to mint money,” Modi said.

Modi was interrupted several times by the opposition during his speech, however, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was absent from the session on Monday.
