Nagpur: “Nagpur district to undergo restrictions again,” said guardian minister Nitin Raut on Monday.

The minister says the third wave of Covid-19 has reached the district, he added.

The decision of the guardian minister comes after the district recorded double-digit Covid-19 cases (13 cases on Sunday) while the death count continued to be zero.

Raut on Monday chaired the Covid-19 review meeting with the officials and informed the local administration that they may announce restrictions to curb the spread of the deadly infection.

Timings of restaurants have been revised to 8 pm from 10 pm and shops to remain operational till 4 pm.

On weekends, shops and restaurants won’t be operational as per the minister.

“Today, after a long time, we have come down to twice as many positive cases.

We have a third wave,” ANI said, quoting the guardian minister.

Raut added that a disaster management meeting will be held soon and it has been decided to impose some restrictions.

“We will be taking a final decision in consultation with the representatives of people in this regard,” he said.

He expressed that out of 13 people who tested positive, 12 were vaccinated and among them was a 12-year-old boy who had tested positive.

“This is a wake-up call; therefore, it is necessary to impose restrictions,” Raut said.

Nagpur district on Monday recorded 10 new Covid-19 cases and zero deaths. Active cases in the district stand at 56.
