Nagpur: A Delhi court on Monday discharged former BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar and five other accused in a case against Singh in which he was accused of masterminding a road accident in which Unnao rape survivor, who filed a rape case against the former BJP leader was injured.

The order was passed by additional chief metropolitan magistrate Ravindra Kumar Pandey who said that there was no prima facie given against Sengar and the other five accused in the case. According to Bar and Bench, “No prima facie evidence on record to charge Kuldeep Singh Singer regarding criminal conspiracy to extend threat to kill victim or her members. No charges can be framed against him,” the Court ruled.

According to various case records, a truck collided with the car in 2019 in which rape survivor, her lawyer and two aunts were travelling. The aunts were killed in the collision, the survivor and her lawyer sustained grievous injuries. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) revealed that no evidence regarding criminal conspiracy was there between those named in the FIR, including former BJP MLA. As per Bar and Bench, the discharge order pointed out, “The accused Kuldeep Singh Sengar was in judicial custody during the period when the alleged threats were extended to the victim or her family members and admittedly the use of prosecution is that he conspired with the other accused persons to extend the threat to the victim or her family and he himself did not extend any threat.”
