Nagpur: Goa is all set to witness another term of the Saffron flags as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 18 seats out of the 40 seats in the 2022 Assembly elections. The BJP claimed that it has the support of three independent candidates, which helped them cross the halfway mark.
The candidates – Antonio Vas, Chandrakant Shetye and Alex Reginald were leading in the early trends. BJP state chief Sadanand Shet Tanavade confirmed that the three independent candidates have extended support to the Saffron party.
As per various BJP sources, the oath-taking will be held on Monday. The Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP), which could be key in government formation, was ahead in three seats. The Goa Forward Party (GFP) was leading in 1 seat, and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in 2 seats.
BJP leader Vishwajit Rane said that the government in Gao has done extensive work across all the sectors, including women empowerment and infrastructure development. He further said, “This is a credit to Prime Minister (Narendra Modi) and all he has done for the state of Goa.
It’s the faith people have put in me. This is a victory of the people and the leadership of the BJP. The Congress and other parties have only fooled the people.”
