Nagpur: Israel’s health ministry on Wednesday said that it has detected two cases of a new Covid-19 variant. As per the ministry, the new variant is not as worrisome as the other variants.

The ministry further said that the new variant is a combination of two sub-variants of the Omicron strain—dubbed BA.1 and BA.2. The variant was first detected when two passengers at Ben Gurion airport tested positive in PCR testing.

In a statement, the ministry said, “The variant is still unknown around the world.” Israel’s pandemic response chief Salman Zarka said, “The phenomenon of combined variants is well known. At this stage, we are not worried about it leading to serious cases.”
The Prime minister’s office cleared out that Israel will not lift more Covid-19 restrictions amid rising infections in several locations across the globe.

What are the symptoms of the new variant?

While talking about the new variant, the ministry said that the symptoms include fever, headache and muscle dystrophy.
