Amsterdam-Serve the City & Ympact020 are both volunteer organizations in Amsterdam.
Ympact020 offers volunteer programs to young people and Serve the City offers volunteer projects to Amsterdammers to help others.
Serve the City is a global movement of volunteers
showing kindness in practical ways to people in need. They are partner with homeless shelters, refugee centers, orphanages, and other associations, offering help and support.
Serve the City creates events that mobilize many volunteers to serve in simple ways – sports, music,
arts and crafts, meals, friendship and more.
They are the connection between the good intentions and talents
of people who could volunteer and a meaningful opportunity to get involved.
Blue Monday is coming. This day is known as the most depressing day of the year. And the country is in lockdown.
“Time for cake” they thought at Serve the City and Ympact020.
Many people experience loneliness during this difficult period, both young and old are affected by this lockdown and they want to do something about it simply and with corona proof.
On Sunday 16 January, the organization tries to bake at home with as many Amsterdammers as possible and to deliver to care locations, institutions in their own neighbourhood, on 17 January.
Baking volunteers are wanted who want to make something delicious for someone else.
Because “Giving makes you richer”.
On Sunday January 16, volunteers can start baking their goodies and Ympact020 will probably also give an online baking workshop in which volunteers can participate.
On January 17, Blue Monday, volunteers bring the baked goods to a care location or homeless location in their area. The volunteer chooses a city district and they receive the address from the organization.
This way, Amsterdammers can be a bright spot for someone else and you immediately have a nice weekend lockdown activity with roommates, family or friends.
Some schools are reopening, but for many young people and students it continues to take online classes. This group is having a hard time and would like to contribute something positive.
