Opposition MLAs in Maharashtra continued their protest on Tuesday during the Assembly’s Winter Session, but today they chose traditional folk songs to express themselves.
On the steps of Vidhan Bhavan, opposition MLAs sang traditional folk songs to criticise government policies and alleged irregularities and corruption by state ministers.
Opposition members staged a protest on the stairs of Vidhan Bhavan on Monday, accusing State Minister Abdul Sattar of corruption and irregularities and calling for his dismissal from the Cabinet. Former state minister and Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) leader Aaditya Thackeray said it was incumbent on Abdul Sattar to resign in light of the corruption charges against him.
“We have all the documents and evidence to prove his wrongdoings, whether it’s the TET scam or objectionable remarks against NCP MP Supriya Sule,” Aaditya Thackeray said. The opposition also accused the Chief Minister of being involved in land scams.
The long-running border dispute between Karnataka and Maharashtra has repeatedly disrupted the Maharashtra Assembly’s winter session. According to reports, CM Eknath Shinde will present a resolution on the border issue today. It will clarify the government’s stance on the issue.
