Nagpur: A state-transport bus reportedly carrying 20 people was washed away in flood waters in Umerkhed, Yavatmal on Tuesday. The shocking incident came to light after Cyclone Gulab hit several parts of Maharashtra and has been witnessing heavy rainfall for the last few days.
According to reports, the bus driver ignored the warning sides and continued to drive through the flooded area. The bus later got trapped in floodwaters. According to district’s guardian minister Sandipanrao Bhumre, the search and rescue operations have started.
Two people have been rescued so far and at least 10 people are suspected to be onboard. District magistrate of Yavatmal Amol Yedge said that the bus was carrying 6 passengers of which 2 rescued and one dead.
