Nagpur: Newly-elected Maharashtra chief minister Eknath Shinde on Monday announced in the assembly that the state government is all set to reduce the value-added tax (VAT) on fuel soon.
The decision to reduce #VAT on fuel will be taken in the state cabinet, #Shinde informed the assembly, hours after proving majority in the floor test.
Earlier, the Centre had cut the excise duty on petrol by Rs 8 per litre and Rs 6 per litre on diesel in May. Union finance minister #NirmalaSitharaman announced, “We are reducing the central excise duty on petrol by Rs 8 and on diesel by Rs 6 per litre. This will reduce the price of petrol by Rs 9.5/ litre and diesel by Rs 7/ litre.”
