Nagpur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Glasgow for the COP26 climate summit on Sunday. Modi will also be holding bilateral talks with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on the sidelines of the UN meet.

Modi took to twitter and wrote Landed in Glasgow. Will be joining the COP26 Summit, where I look forward to working with other world leaders on mitigating climate change and articulating India’s efforts in this regard.

Before arriving in Glasgow, the prime minister described the G20 Summit in Rome as ‘fruitful’ and claimed that the world leaders had discussed serious issues like fighting the pandemic, improving health infrastructure and boosting the economic cooperation between the countries.

Modi was cheered and welcomed in Glasgow with songs by the Indian diaspora. The Indian community greeted him with chants of Bharat Mata ki Jai. Some of the songs were turned around to praise Modi, called ‘Modi Bharat ka gehna.’

Modi is all set to kickstart the UK leg of his European tour. He will be opening the ceremony of World Leaders Summit (WLS). Ahead of the summit, he said, “India is among the top countries in the world in terms of installed renewable energy, wind and solar energy capacity. At the WLS, I will share India’s excellent track record on climate action and our achievements.”
