The cabinet wants to decide next Tuesday to abolish the last corona rules as of Wednesday 23 March. The aim is that only the basic advice, such as washing hands and coughing in the elbow, will remain in force and that a mouth cap should only be worn in aircraft, no longer in public transport. That’s what insiders say to the NOS.
The OMT still has to give advice on this. That will come together tomorrow.
Vaccinated travelers who come to the Netherlands no longer need to take a PCR test. Unvaccinated people still do, but that has to do with European rules for travelers, just like the face masks on airplanes.
At major events, no one needs to be tested anymore. The advice to work from home half the time if you can, would disappear as of next Tuesday.
The basic advice therefore remains in force, but these are not obligations. For example, the advice to test in case of complaints still applies. Those who are positive are expected to stay at home in isolation. But that is also advice, just like the advice to quarantine in some cases if someone in the immediate vicinity has corona.
Although the number of corona infections has increased recently, this has not led to major problems in healthcare.
There will be no press conference on Tuesday. It is the intention that Minister Kuipers of VWS will provide a brief explanation after the cabinet meeting.
