Nagpur: Ministers Mukhtar #AbbasNaqvi and #RCP Singh on Wednesday resigned from the #unioncabinet, just a day ahead of the completion of their Rajya Sabha terms.
Naqvi was in charge of the minority affairs ministry while Singh was heading the union steel ministry. Civil aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia was given additional charge of the steel ministry and women and child development minister Smriti Irani was given charge of minority affairs.

Speaking about the resignation, #Naqvi said that his political and social tenure is not over yet. “I understand that my tenure in Rajya Sabha has been completed, but my political and social tenure has not yet been completed. I will continue to work with dedication and concern for society,” the former minister said.
A minister ceases to be so after his term as a member of Parliament ends. Such a person can be reappointed as a minister, in which case he or she has to take a fresh oath and become a member of either House of Parliament within six months.
