Over 80 services at doorstep for Mumbaikars due to BMC’s Whatsapp chatbot

Nagpur: Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray on Friday launched the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Whatsapp chat bot which is set to provide over 80 different services.

In an appreciable move, the BMC said that through the Whatsapp chatbot, information of more than 80 services and facilities will be made easily available to the citizens on their mobile phones just by adding BMC’s number– 8999228999.

Thackeray in a statement said that Mumbai is the very first municipal corporation in India to provide over 80 services at their doorstep with the help of Whatsapp chatbot. “This day is written in golden letters. It can be described as a revolutionary day,” he said during the launch of the bot.

The chief minister claimed that this step was taken to make work-from-home more efficient. He further added that as technology is advancing rapidly, we should consider how it can be used for giving more and more services to the public. “Mumbai is the number one municipal corporation in the country which has given more than 80 services to the citizens at their doorstep,” Thackeray claimed.

Cabinet minister Aaditya Thackeray who was also present in the meeting said, “Today, we have set before the people a model of online, transparent and accountable municipal corporation.” BMC Chief hailed BMC for its work during the pandemic and said, “With this facility, more than 80 services will be available to citizens on their mobile phones, and their problems will be solved in a few seconds. This is the first such initiative in the country.”
