Pakistan releases 2 Indian prisoners, 700 still in jail

The Pakistan government released two Indian prisoners and returned them to India via the Attari-Wagah border on Tuesday. According to one of the detainees, approximately 700 more Indians are serving prison sentences in Pakistan.

According to Protocol Officer Arun Pal, Raju entered Pakistan by mistake five years ago, and the second prisoner Gembra Ram spent approximately two and a half years in Pakistan custody. Gembra Ram claimed to have crossed the Pakistan border in search of a girl. “I crossed the Pakistan border in search of a girl. When I arrived, I was tortured for six months. I was transferred to another jail after six months and spent 21 months there.”

There are 700 more Indians in the jail from which I came. They’ve gone insane and are sobbing uncontrollably. I, too, cannot explain their situation,” Gembra Ram said. He asked the government to release all of the Indians as soon as possible because many of them had gone insane in the jails and were in deplorable conditions.
