Nagpur: 95-year-old Queen Elizabeth on Tuesday turned down ‘Oldie of the year’ prize, which celebrates the elderly as per the The Oldie Magazine. The Queen said that at the age of 95 she did not meet the criteria.
The publication in July reportedly wrote to the palace officials to ask if she would accept the ‘Oldie of the year’s’ award. The award was also given to her late husband Prince Philip and her mother. The monarch’s assistant private secretary, Tom Laing-Baker made his boss’ apologies last month.
“Her Majesty believes you are as old as you feel, as such The Queen does not believe she meets the relevant criteria to be able to accept, and hopes you will find a more worthy recipient,” he added.
The Queen became the Britain’s longest-reigning monarch back in September 2015. The Queen will also celebrate her platinum jubilee to be on the throne next year. She has been regular with her appearances and audiences.
