Nagpur: Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray directed the administration on Monday to issue guidelines regarding extending the business hours for restaurants, bars and shops in the state. Thackeray said that the guidelines for the same will be put soon.
Thackeray also said that amusement parks, theatres and auditoriums can reopen from October 22, however, water activities in the amusement parks will not be allowed. At present, the timings of shops and restaurants are restricted till 10pm only. The hospitality industry had urged the chief minister to extend the timings of restaurants and bars as the Covid-19 positivity rate has come down.
Mumbai island city guardian minister Aslam Sheikh said that the timings in the city will be restored to pre-covid times i.e 1:30am by the end of the week.
The decision to extend the timings came after Mumbai reported zero Covid-19 deaths on Sunday for the first time ever since the pandemic began. The state has also allowed schools and colleges to reopen, giving a relief to the students. The colleges in the state are set to open from October 20, meanwhile schools for classes 8 to 12 have reopened in the urban areas and classes 5 to 12 have resumed in the rural areas.
