Nagpur: In the latest, the Shiv Sena has defended the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) after poet and lyricist Javed Akhtar’s comments comparing the RSS to terrorist group Taliban.

Sena said that Javed Akhtar was ‘completely wrong’ in comparing the two parties.

“How can you say those who favour the concept of a Hindu Rashtra are of Talibani mindset? We don’t agree with this,” Sena’s mouthpiece Saamna said.

Akhtar recently in an interview claimed that the right-wing all over the world had an uncanny similarity.

“The Taliban wants an Islamic country and these people want to make a Hindu Rastra,” the lyricist said.

Saamna further claimed that even though Javed Akhtar is a secular man and speaks against fundamentalism, he is wrong to compare RSS with the Taliban.

Security was beefed up outside the lyricist’ residence in Mumbai after the controversial comments.

Maharashtra BJP MLA also demanded an apology from Akhtar.

The MLA also said that none of Javed Akhtar’s films will be released until he apoligises for the remarks.
