Sigh of relief for Nagpurians as cases go down, recoveries up

Nagpur: In what can be called as a sigh of relief to Nagpurians, the daily Covid-19 cases in the district seem to be reducing with each day passing and recoveries going up.

Vidarbha has been witnessing more recoveries than new Covid-19 cases. The district has been recording deaths, while the majority of the deaths are incidental findings of Covid-19. However, Nagpur continued to be the biggest contributor in Vidarbha’s daily cases tally.

As per a report, the Covid-19 cases recorded in January when the third wave peaked in the district were lesser than the tally of the three months in the second wave. The reduction in daily Covid-19 cases also indicates a lesser positivity rate.

Last month, 136 deaths were reported due to Covid-19 which is 5 per cent of the deaths which were reported in April during the second wave of Covid-19. District collector R Vimala on Wednesday claimed that around 90 per cent of patients who died during the ongoing third wave had not been vaccinated.

Maharashtra health minister Rajesh Tope on Sunday said that the peak of third Coronavirus wave is over in the state as many major cities are witnessing fall in new Covid-19 cases. He added that in cities like Nashik, Nagpur and Pune even if the case load is high, the infection is not very severe as the infected people are getting cured with simple treatment in five to seven days.
