Nagpur: The Transit Treatment Centre (TTC) located at seminary hills run by the forest department received an aviary as a form of gift from a Canadian girl Binny N.
The aviary was inaugurated by principal chief conservator of forests (PCCF), wildlife, Sunil Limaye on Tuesday in the presence of CCF P Kalyan Kumar, Dy CF Bharat Singh Hada, state wildlife board member Kundan Hate.
The aviary has been named as ‘Binny’s aviary’ and costs about Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 3 lakh.
The aviary will help ensure proper care to the aviaries.
The Canadian girl has been extending help to the TTC since the lockdown began. She’s till date several animals and handed them over to the TTC for further help.
TTC is India’s first wildlife rescue centre and is located in Seminary Hills, Nagpur.
State wildlife board member Kundan Hate told The Free Media that the rescue centre was inaugurated back in 2015 and 11 more rescue centres much bigger than this one are coming up in various parts of the states.
“Officials from Punjab and Rajasthan have come down to the rescue centre to take the plan and develop the same in their states,” he added.
Speaking about the newly-inaugurated aviary, Hate said that the idea of the aviary is to keep the rescued birds into a bigger space rather than small cages before releasing them into their natural habitat.
