Suvendu Adhikari skips WB Guv’s oath-taking ceremony, terms Mamata ‘most wretched politician’

Suvendu Adhikari, the leader of the opposition, skipped Dr. CV Ananda Bose’s inauguration as West Bengal governor on Wednesday due to seat arrangements and dubbed Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee the “most wretched politician ever born in India.”

He made it clear in a series of tweets just before the oath-taking ceremony that he would not attend because he was assigned to sit next to MLAs Krishna Kalyani and Biswajit Das, who were elected on BJP tickets but later defected to the ruling TMC.

Suvendu stated in one of his five tweets, “The LoP has been made to sit next to’soon to be disqualified’ MLAs Krishna Kalyani & Biswajit Das.” Both were elected on BJP tickets and later defected to the TMC, so Anti-Defection proceedings are being pursued against them.”

“I won’t be attending the ceremony because I can’t sit next to such objectionable people,” he added.

He blamed West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, saying, “The Information & Cultural Affairs Dept; WB Govt has made the arrangements for the oath-taking ceremony.” Seating arrangements are at the discretion of Minister in Charge @MamataOfficial.”

In another tweet, he stated that “Compartmental’ CM @MamataOfficial still has nightmares about “Nandigram 1956,” so she is acting jealously. Instead of the Bangla Academy Award for “relentless literary pursuit,” she should have received the “Vengeful Award for relentless pursuit to demean Constitutional Norms.”

Suvendu went on to say, “She’s the most wretched politician ever born in India, who disgracefully clung to power by becoming a “Portfolio-less” Central Minister.” If she’s overjoyed that her third-rate tactics would irritate me, she’s living in a fool’s paradise. Unlike her, I am conscious of my dignity.”

However, he congratulated Dr CV Ananda Bose for taking oath as the governor and sought an appointment from him.

In another tweet, he said, “Our heartfelt congratulations to Dr CV Ananda Bose as he takes the oath of office as Governor of West Bengal.” I’ve asked the Hon’ble Governor to give me a separate appointment at any time that is convenient for him. It’s fine if he wants me to come today.”

He tweeted, “As Leader of the Opposition, I represent the people of West Bengal.” So it’s my responsibility to inform the Constitutional Head of State about the various issues that have plagued our state, such as unabated corruption, deteriorating law and order, and financial insolvency”.
