Both men and women made their voices heard at the Women’s March in Amsterdam. The march is a demonstration for women’s rights in the run-up to International Women’s Day, coming Tuesday.
During the protest march from Dam Square to Museumplein, an estimated 1,000 attendees drew attention to violence and transgressive behavior against women.
The Women’s March has been held annually since 2017. The theme this year was “Time is up”. According to the organization, too little is changing: “After all, the government still consists of the same faces and self-determination and the safety of women is still not taken seriously enough in the Netherlands”.
Among the demonstrators were a number of MPs and representatives of various political parties. Speeches were held on Dam Square by experts and activists in the field of equal rights. Then the demonstrators moved to the Museumplein.
