Nagpur: French President Emmanuel Macron believes that the ‘worst is yet to come’ in Ukraine after he spoke to Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday.

Macron after a 90-minutes call with Putin said, “The expectation of the president is that the worst is to come, given what President Putin told him.” As per a senior aide to Macron, he said there was nothing in what President Putin told us that should reassure us. “He showed great determination to continue the operation,” he added.

He also added that the Russian President wanted to seize control of the whole of Ukraine. “You can understand the extent to which these words are shocking and unacceptable and the president told him that they were lies,” the aide said.

French ambassador to India Emmanuew Lenain on Thursday in a statement said that India is the largest democracy in the world and its voice matters in the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

“India’s voice is very important. India aspires to an even larger responsibility in the international fora. My country is a strong supporter of India getting a permanent seat in UNSC. India is a voice that’s heard in the world,” he said.
